Erjavčeva Koča, perched at the heart of the Vršič Pass in the Slovenian Julian Alps, represents a beacon of hospitality and adventure for those traversing Slovenia's highest mountain pass.
Virje Waterfall, a hidden gem nestled in the enchanting landscapes of the Soča Valley in Slovenia, captivates visitors with its pristine beauty and tranquil ambiance.
This sign should provided real-time updates on the status of the mountain pass. But not really for us. We always strive to have some space available, especially for our guests staying and sleeping at the hut.

MOUNTAIN HUT SINCE 1901
Erjavčeva Mountain Hut (Slovenian: Erjavčeva koča) is an idyllic mountain hut located just before the summit of the Vršič mountain pass on the southern slope of Mala Mojstrovka in the Julian Alps. The surroundings of the refuge offer spectacular views of the surrounding peaks, such as Prisojnik / Prisank, Razor, Jalovec, Špik, Škrlatica, the second-high mountain in Slovenia, and many others. It is a popular stopover for hikers and travellers worldwide who climb, admire the surrounding peaks, or explore the magnificent Triglav National Park‘s marvellous nature.
The refuge is less than 10 kilometres from Kranjska Gora. Kranjska Gora is a picturesque Alpine town known for its ski resort, which offers many winter sports and activities. Summer is a paradise for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. The Trenta Valley, located just 13 kilometres from the refuge, is a haven of untouched nature with numerous hiking trails, waterfalls and crystal-clear rivers. The source of the Soča River is only 11 kilometres from Erjavčeva koča at Vršič. The Soča River, the jewel of the valley, is famous for its turquoise colour and offers exciting opportunities for water sports such as rafting, kayaking and fishing. These destinations in the Julian Alps of Slovenia are a true paradise for nature lovers and active relaxation in all seasons.

What an incredible stay – one of our favorite vacations!
With stunning views, hikes right out the front door, and gorgeous snow, the park has been one of my favorite national parks! The staff was very friendly ; everything was very clean, relaxed and friendly. We enjoyed the food and the company! The staff helped us make recommendations for the park, which were AMAZING! Positive: We stayed in the dorm during the low season and had it to ourselves. The staff member took care of everything himself and was extremely pleasant and helpful. Great views. An incredible goulash!!!
Negative: The dorm beds touch each other, so if there were other guests it would have been better. The ambiance is very “mountain refuge”, so perhaps acceptable for most 🙂

A fantastic place to stay in a stunning location. The property has obviously been renovated recently upstairs where all the bedrooms and showers are located. Everything is in perfect condition and impeccable. The ground floor pavilion has retained its rustic charm. The staff has always been friendly and attentive.
