This essential operation supports mountaineers exploring the country’s breathtaking peaks.

Her journey began in the picturesque alpine town of Kranjska Gora, where she met the crew responsible for the mission. The military helicopter, equipped to handle the harsh mountain environment, was loaded with crates of food, water, and essential supplies destined for refuges high in the Julian Alps. These huts, perched on dramatic ridges and surrounded by jagged peaks, are lifelines for hikers and climbers navigating Slovenia’s rugged terrain. With no road access, helicopters are the only way to keep these remote sanctuaries stocked.
